This Privacy Policy explains how Climtopia ("we," "our," or "the App") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our mobile application. By creating an account or using Climtopia, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to operate the App:

We do not currently collect: precise location, health/biometric data, payment information, or contacts from your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

Operate core features such as climb logging, grade tracking, and leaderboards
Authenticate your account and keep it secure
Deliver push notifications you've enabled (e.g. friend requests, activity updates)
Enable the friend-connection system via QR code / deep links
Respond to feedback or support requests you send us
Maintain the security, stability, and performance of the App

We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Your data is stored using Supabase, a hosted database and backend platform. Data is transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following service providers to operate Climtopia. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

Supabase – database, authentication, file storage, and backend functions
Apple Push Notification service (APNs) – delivering push notifications
Resend – sending transactional emails (e.g. feedback confirmations)
Cloudflare – domain, DNS, and content delivery

5. Your Choices and Rights

Access & correction: You can view and edit most of your profile and activity data directly in the App.
Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. We will delete your data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required by law.
Push notifications: You can disable notifications at any time in your device Settings.

6. Children's Privacy

Climtopia is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. International Users

Climtopia is developed in Canada. If you use the App from outside Canada, your information may be transferred to and processed in Canada or other countries where our service providers operate.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
